Is the FSA Pro-GM Crops?

Following the announcement that a field trial of GM potatoes will take place at a secret location in Norfolk to monitor whether the genes work against blight, I ask myself, who is going to benefit from this? A blight resistant potato already exists, developed using conventional methods and is commercially available. Two people have resigned from the Food Standards Association steering group claiming the FSA is taking a pro- GM stance.

After watching the film, Food, Inc. I am baffled that there are people in this country who are still banging the drum for GM crops. The idea that the FSA are contemplating recommending that we introduce GM potatoes into England, beggars belief.

Food, Inc. is a film that exposes how our food supply is controlled by a handful of multi-national corporations putting profit ahead of consumer health and the environment. If you haven’t seen Food, Inc. there’s still time to enter our competition to get a free copy, whatever you do, don’t miss it - you owe it to yourself.
