Insect Repellents put through their Paces

 Six, sixth form girls took these products to the North of Scotland to put them through their paces on their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition. Wild camping in the mountains is a tough test for any product, this is how they scored.

 

 

The Winners Were...

NAME:  Amy Ewing
PRODUCT: Mosi Guard Spray
SMELL: Quite strong, clinical but bearable
APPLICATION: Easy and quick, left hands feeling a bit sticky!
EFFECTIVENESS: 9/10
 
NAME:  Jessie Thorpe
PRODUCT: Effitan
SMELL:   Nice, smells like wood polish
APPLICATION: Easy as it was a spray
EFFECTIVENESS: 9/10

PRODUCT: Mosi-Guard Stick
SMELL: Strong clinical smell
APPLICATION: Easy to start but as you continued to roll on it seemed to ‘run-out’, the stick became drier

PRODUCT: Mosimix.
SMELL: Quite strong of insect repellant, but to be expected!
APPLICATION: Thin liquid but doesn’t spread very far (a lot needed to cover whole legs)
