Denby has been producing timeless pottery for over 200 years in the heart of the English Countryside. They are the first UK tableware manufacturer to be able to claim ‘zero to landfill’ for all their process waste.
Denby’s Green Credentials:
Being ‘zero to landfill’ saves approximately 600 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. That’s the equivalent of all our 300+ Denby employee’s car journeys in a year being ‘carbon neutral’!
Because our quality standards are so high, any clay with faults is recycled into new stoneware. We save 2500 tonnes of raw clay, the equivalent of 350 fully loaded double decker buses!
We make all our moulds from plaster of Paris. These are recycled to make plasterboard and every year 300 tonnes of plaster of Paris moulds are enough to fully plaster 50 new homes!
During the glazing process, we recycle over 100,000 litres of glaze per year, that’s enough to glaze nearly 1 million pots!
We re-use 8 million litres of water per year and we purify and return to the water cycle 28 million litres of water. That’s enough to fill 12 Olympic size swimming pools!
We receive over 300 tonnes of packaging a year and it’s all recycled. And wherever possible we minimize the packaging we send out by using reusable totes.
And we are not stopping there, as we are committed to
continuously finding new ways of making a positive contribution
to the environment www.denby.co.uk
Amazing Denby facts:
Denby has been producing pottery for over 200 years after discovering a rich seam of clay which is still used today.
Denby can handle itself in the busiest kitchens. From the smallest cup to the biggest casserole, all our pieces can be used with confidence in the microwave, dishwasher and freezer.
We've got over 5000 glazes, all harder than steel. It's taken us 180 years to get our glazes as flawless as they are, meaning our tableware washes more easily, but chips less easily..
Denby is smashing stuff! Our tableware is really much harder to crack than other tableware..
Each Denby piece is unique. It passes through 25 pairs of hands before reaching yours, including a test to make it as comfortable as possible to hold.
