Boots censured for misleading organic claims

Boots has been rapped by the advertising watchdog for making misleading claims about a range of organic baby products on its website. The online ad for ‘Little Me Organics Oh So Gentle Hair and Body Wash’ claimed the product was organic, despite only containing 5 per cent organic ingredients. A complainant challenged whether the claim was misleading because it implied the product met an industry standard for organic products, which it does not.Boots said that Little Me Organics…’ is the brand name, adding that there is no legal definition of what organic means with reference to cosmetic products.

Norway's Crown Prince opens Sherringham Shoal Wind Farm

Once known as a quaint sea fishing town on the coast of north Norfolk, Sherringham is now the site of the biggest wind farm in the country, supplying power to 220,000 homes. Sherringham Shoal offshore wind farm was officially opend yesterday by His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway. The wind farm was opened at an official ceremony at historic Holkham Hall in North Norfolk with support from UK Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Edward Davey, along with the Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Ola Borten Moe and Minister of Trade and Industry, Trond Giske, and the owners presidents and CEO’s Helge Lund, Statoil, and Christian Rynning-Tønnesen, Statkraft.

Work starts on the largest man-made coastal reserve.

Environment Secretary Owen Paterson today officially launched Europe’s most ambitious man-made coastal nature project that will guarantee a place for tens of thousands of migratory birds, and combat the threats from climate change and coastal flooding.

 Wallasea Island in the Thames Estuary will be transformed from levee-protected farmland into a thriving wetland, twice the size of the City of London and teeming with bird and marine life.

London 2012 - The Greenest Olympics Ever

The commission set up to monitor the environmental impact of the Games has announced; London 2012 has been the greenest Olympics ever.

The independent Commission for a Sustainable London 2012 said recycling and regeneration had been a success. But it said much more could be done to minimise the impact of future Olympic Games on people and the planet. Commission chairman Shaun McCarthy said London had set high standards for future Olympic host cities to follow.
